Plymouth Citadel MOD
16/04/2009

Faircloth used an Atcost precast concrete framed structure to change the building from an open store to a high tech storage unit for safe storage of goods.
This development required the removal of an asbestos roof and vertical cladding, and replacing this with new insulated modern cladding, brickwork dwarf parameter walls and insulated sectional doors.
The Royal Citadel at Plymouth was the country's most important defence for more than 100 years, with over 70ft high walls. It is still in use today by the military and is also a tourist attraction during the summer with guided tours available.
The Citadel was originally built in 1665 over the earlier Plymouth Fort and has been regularly strengthened over the years.
Last year planning permission was granted to build a construction outside the western walls and over the moat to create an enclosed yard and indoor carpark for military vehicles
